Try using a different port than the one you’re using if you can. PCs and monitors generally support two different display ports: HDMI and VGA.
Try connecting a different monitor to your system. Try connecting the monitor to a different system. Try a different cable than the one you’re using. Sometimes, a damaged cable or port might prevent the monitor from being detected. Once the mode has changed, select the one you want to use.
